In the mean time, the <strong>Roman<\/strong> period also left traces, with the <b>vestiges<\/b>&nbsp;of <strong>Lumone<\/strong>, located at the crossroads of the <strong>Julian Way<\/strong> and the <strong>Aurelian Way<\/strong>, whose <strong>ruins<\/strong> of the <strong>mausoleum<\/strong> are the only remains of this <strong>Roman<\/strong> post <strong>house<\/strong>. On top of that, you may pass, while being in the <strong>Chemin de Menton<\/strong>, in front of the millennial <strong>olive tree<\/strong>, famous as&nbsp;one of the oldest <strong>olive trees<\/strong> in <strong>Provence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Then, don&#8217;t miss the <strong>castle<\/strong>, built in 970 by <strong>Conrad Ist<\/strong>, Count of <strong>Ventimiglia <\/strong>and is a real witness of <strong>medieval<\/strong> times, and eventually the original name of <strong>Rocabruna<\/strong> appeared in 1157. Plus, a covered <strong>path<\/strong> reveals another superb view over the roofs of the <strong>village<\/strong> and of course the <strong>Mediterranean Sea<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, sold as <strong>National Property<\/strong> in 1808 to five citizens of <strong>Roquebrune<\/strong>, this <strong>fortress<\/strong> was sold at the beginning of the 19th century to a wealthy <strong>British<\/strong> tourist, named <strong>Sir William Ingram<\/strong>, who donated the <strong>castle<\/strong> to the town in 1921. Since 1927, it has been listed as a <strong>historical monument<\/strong>. In the 14th century, the town was owned by the <strong>Grimaldi<\/strong> dynasty. It became <strong>French<\/strong> again during the <strong>French Revolution<\/strong>, became <strong>Monegasque<\/strong> again in 1814, then became a free city with <strong>Menton<\/strong> in 1848. In addition, there was also a <strong>bridge<\/strong> room, a <strong>restaurant<\/strong>, a <strong>barber<\/strong> shop, a <strong>florist<\/strong> and even a <strong>tobacconist<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, there is the unmissable glass <strong>greenhouse<\/strong> of 900m2, even including a peak ceiling height of 22 meters, with an arrangement designed by <strong>Henri Martinet<\/strong>, composed mainly of <strong>exotic<\/strong> plants (of which some palm trees still exist).
