This year 2022 starts on a musical touch, particularly with the world-renowned Chinese pianist Lang Lang who would offer sold-out recitals and concerts in major cities around the World. After being the first Chinese pianist to be engaged by the Vienna Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic and all major American orchestras, this artist would notably visit soon the French cities of Toulouse and Lille! <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Chinese<\/strong> virtuoso pianist Lang Lang<\/strong><\/a> is born on June 14th, 1982, in Shenyang<\/strong>, in China<\/strong>. This is where this artist<\/strong> began his piano<\/strong> studies at the age of 3 and joined Zhu Yafen<\/strong> at the Beijing Conservatory<\/strong> a few years later, where he entered many competitions. Encouraged by his family, he notably won the illustrious First Prize<\/strong> in 1987, at the Shenyang Piano Competition<\/strong>, and subsequently gave his first public recital<\/strong>. Thereafter, numerous awards<\/strong> followed this one, including the First Prize<\/strong> at the 1995 Tchaikovsky Competition<\/strong> dedicated for Young Musicians<\/strong> in Japan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

From 1997 until 2002, the young pianist<\/strong> perfected his technique at the Curtis Institute<\/strong> with Gary Grafflab<\/strong> and settled in the United States<\/strong>. This is where he still resides today and where he started his international career<\/strong> in 2001, at the Carnegie Hall<\/strong> in New York<\/strong> and performed Grieg’s Concerto<\/strong>. Therefore, Lang Lang<\/strong> became more and more acclaimed by critics<\/strong> and recorded his first popular disc<\/strong> for Deutsche Grammophon<\/strong>, in 2003<\/strong> playing the first Piano Concertos<\/strong> of Tchaikovsky<\/strong> and Mendelssohn<\/strong>.<\/p>\nngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\n

A couple of years later, Lang Lang<\/strong> inaugurated a musical live career<\/strong> in sports events<\/strong>, with a performance<\/strong> at the opening ceremony<\/strong> of the FIFA World Cup<\/strong> in Munich <\/strong>in 2006<\/strong>, accompanied by the city’s three symphony orchestras<\/strong>, before performing at the opening ceremony<\/strong> of the Beijing Olympics<\/strong>, in 2008<\/strong>, in the opening the Shanghai World Expo<\/strong>, in 2010 and in the 2015 World Athletics Championships<\/strong>, also in Beijing <\/strong>(photo credits: Lang Lang).<\/p>\n

Another facet of this hyperactive artist<\/strong> would be his social<\/strong> and cultural<\/strong> commitment, essentially in terms of sharing classical music<\/strong>, with a focus on training children<\/strong> and young musicians<\/strong> through education<\/strong>. That’s why, he inaugurated in 2007 the Lang Lang Music Foundation<\/strong> which aims to help young prodigy pianists<\/strong> in several countries, around the World<\/strong>. This educational<\/strong> side naturally lead Lang Lang<\/strong> to be named Honoris Causa<\/em> Doctor of Music<\/strong> by the Prince of Wales<\/strong> at the Royal College of Music<\/strong>, and in November 2013, he was even appointed as Messenger of Peace<\/strong> by the United Nations<\/strong>, partly honoring his collaboration with the Unicef<\/strong>. <\/p>\nngg_shortcode_1_placeholder\n

At last, Lang Lang<\/strong> also succeeded to proceed a crossover with pop<\/strong> and electronic<\/strong> music, since the pianist<\/strong> performed at the 56th Grammy Awards<\/strong> with the American<\/strong> band Metallica<\/strong>, in 2014. Thereafter, in 2015, he collaborated with Jean-Michel Jarre<\/strong> on the occasion of his Electronica<\/strong> album (volume 1), for the song The Train & The River<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

As a testimony to his global popularity<\/strong>, the talented Lang Lang<\/strong> was featured in the Times 100<\/strong> list of the World’s most influential people<\/strong>, commending his notoriety<\/strong>, proved by the fact that most of his albums<\/strong> are among the best-selling classical music<\/strong> issues in the United States<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

At the occasion of an international<\/strong> tour<\/strong> occurring in 2022, Lang Lang<\/strong> has decided to play the Bach<\/strong>‘s Goldberg Variations<\/strong>. Just logical since the pianist has been exploring those masterpieces<\/strong> for over twenty years ago and recorded them for Deutsche Grammophon<\/strong>. In fact, this concert<\/strong> program could be considered as the culmination of a long personal musical<\/strong> path, and this lifetime project<\/strong> would be spread this year through numerous prestigious concert halls<\/strong>, all over the World<\/strong>.<\/div>\n
