Situated in the heart of the oldest streets of <strong>Lille<\/strong>, this monument was founded in 1237 by the <strong>Countess Jeanne of Flanders<\/strong> and played a major social role for ages. Those were realized by the French <strong>Collectif Renart<\/strong>, mixing <strong>frescoes<\/strong> representing contemporary <strong>scenes<\/strong> and ancient <strong>habits<\/strong>, starring <strong>Lady Alezia<\/strong> showing her <strong>calligraphy<\/strong> abilities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">This main alley is surrounded by a couple of <strong>edifices<\/strong> which used to be occupied by the community from the <strong>Augustinian<\/strong> sisters. This <em><strong>ensemble<\/strong><\/em> is organized around two <strong>courtyards<\/strong> and a <strong>garden<\/strong>, and precedes a <strong>permanent exhibition<\/strong> space, full of local <strong>antiques<\/strong>. In fact, this <strong>Notre-Dame de la Treille <\/strong>cathedral stands on the site of a former <strong>castle<\/strong> site, built in the 11th century and unfortunately demolished in the middle of the 19th century.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>Dedicated to <strong>Marian<\/strong> worship, this <strong>edifice<\/strong> impresses with the result from more than a century of huge <strong>work<\/strong>, with numerous <strong>interruptions<\/strong> due to lack of budget and wars.
