The NGO Plan International France, member of Plan International, which belongs to a network made up of 78 countries, is engaged to advance children’s rights and gender equality. Active since 1937, this network currently leads nearly 2,000 projects and offers a support to more than 50.3 million children, in terms of development and emergency contexts. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Moreover, Plan International is historically renowned as the largest sponsorship organization in the world. Strong of this reputation, Plan International France has recently decided to raise funds from a charity dinner and auction, that occurred at Les Bains. On 22th June 2022, several artists’ artworks were acquired under auction, in order to support the plans of the French entity, detailed at the end of this article by an interview. Therefore, since its creation in 1993, the NGO Plan International France has been fighting to uphold the rights of children from all over the World, in particular those of girls. <\/strong>By AL<\/em><\/p>\n

Indeed, working on improving equality between girls<\/strong> and boys<\/strong> and respect for any fundamental rights<\/strong>, whatever the gender<\/strong>, means guaranteeing a fairer<\/strong> and more sustainable<\/strong> world. This includes the random rights<\/strong> to grow up in good health<\/strong>, to follow a quality education<\/strong>, or to be protected against all forms of violence<\/strong>. That’s why Plan International<\/strong> is also committed into several actions<\/strong> regarding education<\/strong>, health<\/strong> and engaged youth<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

In a development<\/strong> context or in an emergency<\/strong> situation, Plan International France<\/strong> operates in Asia<\/strong>, Africa<\/strong> and Latin America<\/strong> by providing children<\/strong> with positive solutions<\/strong>, sometimes co-constructed with local communities<\/strong> and with lasting impacts<\/strong>. This NGO<\/strong> also carries out advocacy<\/strong> work in France<\/strong> with political<\/strong> or institutional<\/strong> decision-makers, but also different types of fundraisings <\/strong>(photo credits: Plan International).<\/p>\n

Thus, apart from the traditional online<\/strong> or urban<\/strong> humanitarian collections<\/strong>, the  France <\/strong>entity as well has its own charity events<\/strong>. For instance, nearly 2 years after the first edition, a new charity dinner<\/strong> has been held at the famous Les Bains<\/strong> club & hotel, at the initiative of its owner Jean-Pierre Marois<\/strong> and top model \/ ambassador Oph\u00e9lie Guillermand<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This event<\/strong> was organized as a private dinner <\/strong>starring a couple of influencers<\/strong> and celebrities<\/strong>, such as the top models Valery Kaufmann, Cindy Bruna, Sasha Luss Yulia Velikanova, <\/strong>the entrepreneur Laurent Milchior <\/strong>from Etam Group, <\/strong>and the singer Vanille. <\/strong>Nonetheless, an online art<\/strong> auction was also standing, in partnership with Augustinus Bader<\/strong>, Les Bains Guerbois<\/strong> and Drouot<\/strong>, and in order to raise funds for Plan International<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

At this occasion, many contemporary artists<\/strong> , sometimes linked to Les Bains<\/strong>‘ history, had responded to this collective<\/strong> effort<\/strong> and entrusted their own artworks<\/strong> so that the guests<\/strong> but also the Drouot<\/strong> customers could afford at auction<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The result is a selection of a rich gallery of paintings<\/strong>, signed photos<\/strong> and other drawings<\/strong> that have been scattered, under the hammer of Master Alexandre Giquello<\/strong>. Those artworks<\/strong> have been introduced by telling some facts of their history and even sometimes in the presence of their respective authors<\/strong>. At the end of the event<\/strong>, Plan International France<\/strong> can proudly admits that its organization<\/strong> has succeeded to raise nearly 48,000 euros<\/strong> that would be notably allocated in favor of their social<\/strong> programs<\/strong> to combat child labour<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Could you introduce us in a few words the activity of Plan International and since when it is operative?<\/b><\/p>\n

Plan International France<\/strong> is an independent international solidarity<\/strong> organization<\/strong>, member of the Plan International<\/strong> network, which works for the defence of children’s rights<\/strong>. Active in France<\/strong> since 1993, we are the leading NGO<\/strong> in child sponsorship<\/strong> and fight for equality<\/strong> between girls and boys. We are involved in over 2,000 projects<\/strong>, benefiting 40.5 million children<\/strong> in 78 countries. What is the origin of the name of Plan International?<\/b><\/p>\n

Plan International<\/strong> is the story of an encounter between John Langdon-Davies<\/strong>, a British<\/strong> journalist covering the Spanish Civil War<\/strong> in the 1930s, and a little boy, Jos\u00e9<\/strong>, wandering alone in the devastated streets of Santander<\/strong> in northern Spain<\/strong>. In the boy’s pocket, the journalist<\/strong> discovered a note inviting him to help.<\/p>\n

In 1937, John Langdon-Davies<\/strong> organized the evacuation of Jos\u00e9<\/strong> and hundreds of other children<\/strong> who were victims of the conflict. During the Second World War<\/strong>, the organization became the Foster Parents Plan for War Children<\/strong>, based in England<\/strong>, and looked after displaced<\/strong> children throughout Europe<\/strong>. John Langdon-Davies<\/strong>‘ aim was to establish a personal relationship between an orphaned<\/strong> child and an English<\/strong> sponsor. <\/p>\n

They created the concept of sponsorship<\/strong> and the NGO Plan International<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Two years after, you organize a new charity auction date. What do you expect from this event and who are the main supporters of your worldwide actions?<\/b><\/p>\n

In February 2020, Oph\u00e9lie Guillermand<\/strong>, model and ambassador of the NGO Plan International France<\/strong>, and Jean-Pierre Marois<\/strong>, owner of the establishment Les Bains<\/strong>, organized an auction during Paris Fashion Week<\/strong> to support the NGO<\/strong> continuing its work for children<\/strong> all around the World.<\/p>\n

After the success of the Women for Women <\/i><\/strong>event in 2020, the ambassadors of Plan International France<\/strong> and Les Bains<\/strong> are mobilizing again.<\/p>\n

On the occasion of the International Day<\/strong> against Child Labour<\/strong>, the cosmetics brand Augustinus Bader<\/strong> is joining forces with Les Bains<\/strong> and the NGO Plan International France<\/strong> to organize a charity event<\/strong> on 22nd June to support the NGO<\/strong>. The guests of the charity dinner<\/strong> cooked by Juan Arbelaez<\/strong>, chef and ambassador of the NGO<\/strong>, will take part in an art<\/strong> auction led by Alexandre Giquello<\/strong>, president of Drouot<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Is there a connection between the artists you selected, and why did you decide to organize this charity dinner in Les Bains?<\/b><\/p>\n

All of the artists who donated their artwork to Plan International France<\/strong> for the auction are committed to the fight for children’s rights<\/strong> and in particular against child labor<\/strong>. For instance, the illustrator Alice Gravier<\/strong> donated a beautiful Indian<\/strong> ink drawing<\/strong> depicting the flight of Ukrainian<\/strong> children following the bombing<\/strong> of the country. <\/span><\/p>\n

The first edition of our charity event<\/strong> was held at Les Bains<\/strong>, and when Jean-Pierre Marois<\/strong>, the owner of Les Bains<\/strong>, wanted to get involved with us again, it seemed natural that this new edition would be again held at Les Bains<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The profits will be completely donated to the organization<\/strong>‘s programs that work for education<\/strong> and against the exploitation<\/strong> of children and girls around the world. <\/span><\/p>\n

Today more than 160 millions of children<\/strong> are still forced to work. More than 1 in 3 working girls do not go to school !<\/p>\n

Terrifying figures<\/strong> that reflect an intolerable reality: deprivation<\/strong> of childhood, endangerment of health<\/strong> and exclusion<\/strong> from education.<\/p>\n
