Marc-Antoine Barrois comes back this year to bewitch his fans, with his new Encelade creation, joining his own selection of fine fragrances, as well postulating soon to become again the spirit of the year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Thus, Marc-Antoine Barrois got a major recognition in 2020, for his Ganymede olfactory jewel, which was rewarded with this promising Prize intended for the Best Fragrance from an independent Niche Brand, the time of this annual Fragrance Foundation gala. By the way, this Experts Award for the Author’s Perfumery is made up of a bunch passionates, coming from several composition companies, also members of the Fragrance Foundation France, along a group of journalists specialized in perfumes. <\/strong>In order to be more transparent and to help the juries to break a tie among these 400 confidential perfumes, launched every year on the French market, during a whole year, we can count on three different categories of prizes. <\/strong><\/div>\n

Following our previous articles<\/strong> on niche perfumes<\/strong><\/a>, we are glad to introduce here the French winner<\/strong> of the 2020<\/strong> edition of the Experts Award for the Author’s Perfumery<\/strong>, honored by the Fragrance Foundation France<\/strong><\/a>. Thereafter, beyond a blind vote<\/strong> to facilitate the construction of the nominee fragrances<\/strong>, a majority of the jurors<\/strong> was pleased to attribute this professional recognition for the amazing niche perfume <\/strong>imagined by Marc-Antoine Barrois<\/strong><\/a>, greekly baptized Ganymede<\/strong>. Nonetheless, this fragrance<\/strong>, imagined under the aegis<\/em> of this inspired French<\/strong> couturier<\/em> pursues a personal scented<\/strong> project initiated in 2013, with a first showroom<\/strong> inaugurated in the northern part of Paris<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Lately, the recent ambition of the couturier resided in a scented<\/strong> collection, nowadays structured around three perfumes<\/strong>. Indeed, lately his last project Encelade<\/strong> joined its two siblings Ganymede<\/strong> and B683<\/strong> (as the name of an imaginary planet<\/strong>, like the Little Prince<\/strong>‘s one B612<\/strong>). Three name codes<\/strong> for three critical successes<\/strong>, especially for the late Ganymede<\/strong> which was already honored by respectable prizes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Based on this statement, as an independent brand<\/strong>, it was such an intense gratitude for Marc-Antoine Barrois<\/strong><\/a> to be granted with one of these illustrious awards<\/strong> for Ganymede<\/strong>, his second fragrance<\/strong>. For your information, Encelade<\/strong> follows a series of olfactory<\/strong> collaborations realized in partnership with the perfumer Quentin Bisch<\/strong>, who also collaborates for the perfumery<\/strong> company Givaudan<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Two years after the obtention of the IFF<\/strong> prize in 2019<\/strong> with his previous perfume Ganymede<\/strong> and the creation of B683<\/strong> in 2016<\/strong>, the inspired couturier<\/em> Marc-Antoine Barrois<\/strong> once again associated with the perfumer Quentin Bisch<\/strong>, to offer a brand new woody green<\/strong> and leathery<\/strong> evocation of some imaginary sort of “lava and ice” jungle<\/strong>, full of multiple wild inspirations. In fact, you could naturally appreciate an abrupt contrast between those smoky leather<\/strong> and acid greenness<\/strong> aspects, eventually representing a certain style of Quentin Bisch<\/strong>, melting between dark<\/strong>, woody<\/strong>, and fruity<\/strong> notes (photo credits: Roberto Greco).<\/p>\n

As far as we know, this prolix duo<\/strong><\/em> once again wished to explore the antique<\/strong> times with the representation of the giant Enceladus<\/strong><\/em>, which was killed by Athena<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This son of Ouranos<\/strong> and Gaia<\/strong>, embodied a certain form of character<\/strong> and rebellion<\/strong>, and seems to have been buried under the Etna<\/strong> volcano, in Sicily<\/strong>. In the meantime, the name of Enceladus<\/strong><\/em> was also given in 1789<\/strong> to a mysterious satellite of the Saturn <\/strong>planet.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, you may certainly imagine a certain representation between fire<\/strong> and ice<\/strong>, as inspiration to suggest the spirit of lush nature<\/strong>. In order to make this possible, a delicious rhubarb<\/strong> touch, was employed to melt with cedar<\/strong> and vetiver<\/strong>. In another hand, you couldn’t miss a smoky leather<\/strong> and animal<\/strong> accord, thanks to a fusion between sandalwood<\/strong> and tonka bean<\/strong>. Last but not least, you have to know that Marc-Antoine Barrois<\/strong> hired the photographer Roberto Greco<\/strong>, for the visual identity of this gem<\/strong>, whose golden reflected flask<\/strong> was decorated by the sculptor Jean Boggio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A rich path for this newly born Ganymede<\/strong> in 2019, which is now available in 134 independent perfumeries<\/strong> spread throughout 37 countries and dedicated for men but also women. Indeed, either acclaimed by ladies and gentlemen<\/strong>, this juice<\/strong> has been experiencing since its launch an unusual success, thanks to a clientele<\/em> of men and women seduced by this elegant niche perfume<\/strong>.
