This is where, he recognized having a successful career as a high-tech <em>entrepreneur<\/em>, building and selling several companies during his <em>American Dream<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><strong>When the youngest of his three sons left home to go to college, Samuel Maury also decided to switch his professional life, and even return to school. Thereafter, he studied philosophy&nbsp;and British Literature at Columbia University, in New York and then at the University&nbsp;from Oxford, in the UK. In 2018, <strong>Maury Samuel<\/strong> realized the first of his <strong>paintings<\/strong> from his <em><strong>Primitive<\/strong><\/em> series, deeply inspired by&nbsp;a <strong>character<\/strong> from his second <strong>book<\/strong>, known as <strong>Dahya<\/strong>. A young and wild&nbsp;<strong>Berber<\/strong> woman living in the&nbsp;<strong>Sahara<\/strong> desert, depicted in&nbsp;a violent <strong>sandstorm<\/strong> in which she struggles to <strong>survive<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">For your information, those&nbsp;<strong>Primitive<\/strong> series follow different <strong>characters<\/strong> in various <strong>situations<\/strong>, but also various <strong>moods<\/strong> and <strong>environments<\/strong>. Those distinct <strong>shapes<\/strong> can be designed through the use of bold <strong>primary colors<\/strong>, along strong and lively <strong>expressions<\/strong>. This series displays a wide spectrum of <strong>emotions<\/strong>, <strong>desires<\/strong> and <strong>fears<\/strong> of his characters, both in uncertain and mysterious <strong>circumstances<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><em><strong>Beyond Painting<\/strong><\/em> exhibition by <strong>Maury Samuel<\/strong>, at <strong>Galerie Jean Briance<\/strong>, 25 rue Gu\u00e9n\u00e9gaud, 75006 Paris (France). Where do you create the most and where do you find your main inspiration?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>I have painted mostly in <strong>Paris<\/strong> in the last five years. I started <strong>painting<\/strong> after I wrote and published two <strong>books<\/strong> and wanted to try something <strong>new<\/strong>. I live now in the <strong>Saint-Germain-des-Pr\u00e9s<\/strong>, surrounded by hundreds of galleries, showing many styles of <strong>paintings<\/strong>, old and new and <strong>emerging<\/strong>, it is really inspiring.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-39425 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/francevisiting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/telecharge-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"222\" height=\"316\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-39426 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/francevisiting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/telecharge.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"222\" height=\"316\">How could you define your artistic state of mind? What are the main ideas depicted in your artworks?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t know what my <strong>artistic<\/strong> state of mind is. When I start a <strong>painting<\/strong>, the <strong>canvas<\/strong> is white, and I have a little <strong>idea<\/strong> what will emerge.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>I also can\u2019t claim that I depict ideas in my <strong>paintings<\/strong>, I simply pour the <strong>paint<\/strong> and start manipulating it, using different <strong>instruments<\/strong>. How do you consider the connection with your current Art?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I started few <strong>companies<\/strong> at the beginning of the <strong>internet<\/strong> era that were what we call today <strong>Technology Start Ups<\/strong>, and the same unknown process exist in my <strong>painting<\/strong>, the <strong>project<\/strong> leads you to a certain point that not necessarily you have planned when you start.
