The appellation only produces <strong>red wines<\/strong> made mainly from <em><strong>syrah<\/strong><\/em> with which <em><strong>viognier<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;grape varieties, which are associated. By the way, the&nbsp;<em><strong>C\u00f4te-R\u00f4tie<\/strong><\/em> is also the only <strong>red wine<\/strong> appellation in the northern part of those&nbsp;<em><strong>C\u00f4tes du Rh\u00f4ne<\/strong><\/em> to be able to plant <em><strong>viognier<\/strong><\/em> with <em><strong>syrah<\/strong><\/em>, a white grape variety which gives <em><strong>syrah<\/strong><\/em> finesse and aroma.<\/p>\n<p>In<em><strong> C\u00f4te-R\u00f4tie<\/strong><\/em>, there are two very distinct <em><strong>terroirs<\/strong><\/em>, starting from the northern <strong>side<\/strong> embodied by the <em><strong>C\u00f4te Brune<\/strong><\/em>, extending over terraced <strong>soils<\/strong> and very steep <strong>hillsides<\/strong>. This <strong>territory<\/strong> counts a brown clay-based <strong>soil<\/strong> with a lot of <strong>iron<\/strong> oxide, occurring the production of <strong>full-bodied<\/strong> and <strong>long-lasting<\/strong> wines. Loyal to the principles from this&nbsp;<em><strong>Appellation of Origin<\/strong><\/em>, dating back from <strong>1940<\/strong>, as one of the oldest <strong>vineyards<\/strong> in <strong>France<\/strong> and present in the <strong>Vidal-Fleury<\/strong> range since <strong>1781<\/strong>, this dry <strong>red wine<\/strong> is perfect for <strong>keeping&nbsp;<\/strong>(up to <strong>15 years<\/strong> potential). &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This rare and very remarkable <strong>wine<\/strong> displays an incomparable <strong>balance<\/strong>, thanks to traditional <strong>maceration<\/strong> of <strong>3 weeks<\/strong>, before an aging <strong>on lees&nbsp;<\/strong>during <strong>2 years<\/strong> in <strong>barrels<\/strong>, leading to a&nbsp;<strong>carmine red<\/strong> appearance.
