In spring 2024, the Parisian Galerie Negropontes<\/em> inaugurated a new exhibition space in Venice, within the Palazzina Masieri<\/em>. Built in the 17th century on the illustrious Grand Canal<\/em>, this emblematic residence, redesigned by Venetian master Carlo Scarpain the 1970s, now rediscovers its vocation as a dialogue between art and architecture. The renovation was entrusted to architects Roberta Bartolone and Giulio Mangano of Studio Barman, who managed to preserve the spirit of the place while infusing it with contemporary energy. Sophie Negropontes<\/strong> hiding somewhere behind one of her favorite artworks<\/strong>..<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This opening marked a turning point<\/strong> for gallerist Sophie Negropontes<\/strong>, from Greek-Romanian <\/strong>origin, who used to be trained in business <\/strong>and luxury <\/strong>fields. She founded her first gallery <\/strong>in Paris <\/strong>in 2012<\/strong>, from photography <\/strong>to sculpture<\/strong>, she cultivates a multidisciplinary <\/strong>approach, blending decorative arts<\/strong> and contemporary <\/strong>creation. Her new Venetian <\/strong>address, located in the Dorsoduro <\/strong><\/em>district, extends this vision, as a bridge <\/strong>between two shores<\/strong>, the Seine<\/strong><\/em> river and the Grand Canal<\/strong><\/em>, between a certain heritage <\/strong>and modernity<\/strong>. The inaugural exhibition<\/strong>, named Armonia Metis<\/em><\/strong>, presented from March 22nd <\/strong>to November 24th, 2024<\/strong>, celebrated some diversity<\/strong> and artistic <\/strong>hybridity. On the ground floor<\/strong>, you may admire various artworks<\/strong> by the gallery<\/strong>\u2019s artists<\/strong>, engaging in an open dialogue<\/strong>, while upstairs, the glass sculptures<\/strong> of the duet Perrin & Perrin<\/strong><\/em>, paying homage to Scarpa<\/strong>, while playing with correspondences <\/strong>between light, geometry<\/strong>, and architecture<\/strong>, meet the poetic <\/strong>creations of Mircea Cantor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This first exhibition<\/strong> somehow affirmed Sophie Negropontes\u2019<\/strong> desire to open a space <\/strong>for exchange<\/strong> where disciplines <\/strong>may intersect. In continuity with this approach<\/strong>, the gallery<\/strong> presents, from April 17th <\/strong>to November 22nd, 2025<\/strong>, the Architectural Landscapes<\/em><\/strong>, in partnership with the Heritage Asset Management <\/strong><\/em>structure. Designed as an echo to the 19th Venice Architecture Biennale<\/em><\/strong>, this exhibition<\/strong> explores the links <\/strong>between material, space, <\/strong>and memory<\/strong>. For instance, the monumental sculptures<\/strong> of Gianluca Pacchioni<\/strong> engage in dialogue<\/strong> with Pinton <\/strong>tapestries in a sort of imaginary garden<\/strong><\/em>, evoking in a way the 1950s <\/strong>debates around Frank Lloyd Wright<\/strong>\u2019s project for the Palazzina<\/strong><\/em>. On the third floor<\/strong>, a series of temporary exhibitions<\/strong>, including Scarpa-Zanon, Dialoghi<\/em><\/strong> in collaboration with IUAV University<\/strong><\/em>, continue this reflection on the transmission of know-how<\/strong> and the continuity <\/strong>of craftsmanship<\/strong>. Between history <\/strong>and creation<\/strong>, the Galerie Negropontes<\/strong><\/em> transforms the Palazzina Masieri<\/strong><\/em> into a living space<\/strong> where design, architecture, <\/strong>and contemporary art<\/strong> meet, celebrating beauty <\/strong>in all its forms<\/strong> (photo credits: Galerie Negropontes<\/em>).<\/p>\n

While in Paris<\/strong>, from September 17, 2025 <\/strong>to January 9, 2026<\/strong>, the Galerie Negropontes<\/strong><\/em> invites visitors<\/strong> to discover “Trilogie, une histoire d’explorations artistiques<\/strong><\/em>” (“Trilogy \u2013 A Story of Artistic Explorations<\/em><\/strong>“), a collective exhibition<\/strong> bringing together eight creators<\/strong> around a demanding yet inspiring format, the triptych<\/strong>. Each artist<\/strong> has imagined three artworks<\/strong> as variations<\/strong> on a single gesture<\/strong>, exploring repetition<\/strong>, rhythm<\/strong>, and transformation<\/strong> within the creative process<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The sculptures<\/strong>, installations<\/strong>, and art furniture<\/strong> on display reveal a shared fascination for noble materials<\/strong>, such as marble<\/strong>, glass<\/strong>, bronze<\/strong>, plaster<\/strong>, and horsehair<\/strong> and for the expressive power of form<\/strong><\/em>. For example, Gianluca Pacchioni<\/strong> contrasts raw stone<\/strong> with polished surfaces<\/strong>; along \u00c9ric de Dormael<\/strong> shaping ethereal architectures<\/strong> in plaster and paper, where light <\/strong>becomes structure<\/strong>. Whereas Jean-Christophe Malaval<\/strong> revisits marine mythology<\/strong> through his Atlantis<\/em><\/strong> vases, while Ulrika Liljedahl<\/strong> weaves horsehair<\/strong> into vibrant, chromatic compositions<\/strong>. Benjamin Poulanges<\/strong> builds fragile ceramic sandcastles<\/strong>, evoking solidified memories of play and imagination. In another hand, the Perrin & Perrin<\/strong><\/em> couple sculpts transparency<\/strong> in glass, seeking a balance between fullness <\/strong>and emptiness<\/strong>, structure <\/strong>and chaos<\/strong>. In the meantime, Mircea Cantor<\/strong> reflects on the paradox of the gift<\/strong> through marble forms resembling empty packages<\/strong>, while Mauro Mori<\/strong> presents monolithic marble vases<\/strong> that transform with shifting light<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Through these eight trilogies<\/strong>, this Trilogy<\/em><\/strong> exhibition unfolds as a poetic <\/strong>and sensory <\/strong>journey, a meditation on creation <\/strong>and metamorphosis<\/strong>, where each artwork<\/strong> becomes the reflection of a shared pursuit<\/strong>, as transforming matter <\/strong>into emotion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
