For the first time, the official Parisian<\/strong> fashion museum<\/strong>, located in the Palais Galliera<\/strong><\/a> presents the first retrospective<\/strong> devoted to the rich creative career of her founder Gabrielle Chanel<\/strong>, on the occasion of the reopening of this cultural center<\/strong>, that occurred on October 1st, 2020. Indeed, after more than two years of renovation, essentially financed by the Maison Chanel<\/strong><\/a>, this former palace<\/strong> of the Duchess of Galliera<\/strong>, built between 1878 and 1894 by the architect L\u00e9on Ginain<\/strong>, is now devoted to the art and history of fashion<\/strong> and haute-couture <\/em><\/strong>(photo credits: Palais Galliera).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Since this refreshing, the Palais Galliera<\/strong> gained new rooms, notably with a view on the garden<\/strong> and has officially gained 670 m\u00b2 of exhibition<\/strong> space, fitted out in the museum<\/strong> cellars. Moreover, the two adding new floors can accommodate large temporary exhibitions<\/strong> or a selection of pieces from the permanent collections<\/strong>. <\/div>\n

Therefore, new galleries<\/strong> are named after Gabrielle Chanel<\/strong> and through their late arrangements, the Palais Galliera<\/strong> wishes to become the first French<\/strong> fashion museum<\/strong>, in order to exhibit some permanent artworks<\/strong>, along a few new features, such as a boutique<\/strong> with a bookstore<\/strong>, a seasonal caf\u00e9<\/strong> and an educational workshop<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In a sense, it was not a surprise to organize this first Parisian<\/strong> homage dedicated to one of the greatest symbols of fashion<\/strong>, also baptized Coco Chanel<\/strong>. This exceptional exhibition<\/strong>, untitled Gabrielle Chanel, Manifeste de la Mode<\/strong> pays an honest tribute to the iconic seamstress and instigator of the homonym Maison Chanel<\/strong>, basically planned until March 14th, 2021.<\/div>\n

The museum<\/strong> doesn’t only focus at the clothes designed by the designer<\/strong>, since also a large selection of jewelry<\/strong>, accessories<\/strong> and perfumes<\/strong> recreate the authentic Chanel<\/strong>‘s vision of fashion<\/strong> and haute-couture<\/strong><\/em> in the same time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
