After years of ambitious redevelopment and more than €25 million in investment, one of Alsace’s most renowned hospitality destinations has entered a new era. Formerly known as Le Parc Hôtel & Yonaguni Spa, the family-owned property in Obernai has unveiled its new identity, now better known as YONA Hotel. More than a simple rebranding, YONA represents a complete transformation of the guest experience. Positioned as a fully immersive destination, the property combines contemporary architecture, world-class wellness facilities, and creative gastronomy to offer a unique escape in the heart of Alsace. As far as we know, the transformation of this newly called Yona Hotel is immediately visible through a striking 3,500-sqm extension, mainly designed by architecture firm AEA. Featuring a dramatic three-storey atrium, a signature timber facade, sixteen new suites and a spectacular restaurant space, the development redefines the scale and ambition of the property while maintaining a strong connection to its natural surroundings. At the heart of this YONA experience is clearly wellness. The multiple award-winning Yonaguni Spa, already internationally recognised for its innovative approach, remains the flagship attraction. Spanning more than 3,500 sqm, the spa offers a true immersive journey through exceptional pools, sensory experiences and relaxation areas, all inspired by the legendary underwater ruins of Yonaguni Island, in Japan. Since its opening in 2020, the spa has earned multiple prestigious international awards, establishing itself as one of France’s leading wellness destinations (photo credits: AP).

Complementing this flagship facility stands the Yonasaya Spa, an exclusive retreat, reserved for hotel residents. Inspired by Japanese and Oriental wellness traditions, the intimate 500-sqm sanctuary features a black stone pool, crafted from Balinese natural stone, along an onsen-inspired bath, nearby of course sauna, hammam and a range of multisensory relaxation experiences. In the rooftop, stands a wide peaceful salon, where many massage cabins would welcome you for different sessions. Therefore, with its latest spa offering, Yonaguni Spa reinforces its positioning at the intersection of wellness, high-performance skincare and sensory travel. Drawing on the expertise of Phytomer and Phytocéane, the menu brings together a curated selection of facial treatments, body rituals and bespoke massages, all inspired by destinations ranging from Polynesia and even Zanzibar to the Orient and Costa Rica. On the menu, various marine-based active ingredients, holistic protocols and immersive experiences form the foundation of a program, designed to deliver both visible results and deep relaxation. More than a traditional spa menu, the collection reflects a growing demand for experiential wellness.

Beyond this large wellness offer, gastronomy plays a central role in YONA’s identity. At the newly launched YONA Restaurant Signature, Chef Cyril Bonnard and Pastry Chef Marie Wucher-Bonnard draw on their international careers alongside culinary legends such as Yannick Alléno, Pierre Gagnaire and Joël Robuchon. Their cuisine embraces global influences, transforming each meal into a journey of discovery, through bold flavours, refined techniques and a spirit of sharing. Through its latest menu, the restaurant reinforces a contemporary culinary identity, where again Japanese influences meet the traditions of French gastronomy. Refined starters, including red tuna chirashi with caviar and Muenster cheese, eventually enhanced with Gewurztraminer wine, set the tone for a selection of carefully crafted dishes. Highlights include teriyaki branzino, but also umami styled black cod with shiitake dashi, and glazed duck magret, alongside sophisticated vegetarian options. Balancing a certain technical precision, including premium ingredients, and cross-cultural inspiration, their menu reflects some elegant and globally minded approach to modern dining.

Leading the project is nowadays Maxime Wucher, the fourth generation of the family, behind the wide evolution of this inspired establishment. Inspired by years of experience in Asia’s luxury hospitality sector, he has guided the property‘s evolution into a destination that goes far beyond the traditional hotel concept.
With further constant updating developments, planned through 2029, including new suites and additional lifestyle experiences, you may already stay comfortable in one of the various renovated rooms, full of devices, such as air conditioning, a large bathroom and even a calm terrace. As far as we know, this new version of the YONA Hotel is positioning itself as one of the most innovative hospitality and wellness destinations in France. More than a hotel, it is a place, designed to transport guests elsewhere while remaining firmly rooted in the Alsatian landscape. This is also the case the morning after, with this large brunch offering, such a wide choice of local delights, but not only. Ideal to start a new day on good feet!
