A visit, in a real size reconstruction, of a traditional ryokan in Paris, the Spa Suisen

Beyond their functional aspect, ryokans represent a significant part of Japanese culture. Often located near thermal springs, these inns allow a stay of return to oneself and to the nature, through services of hot baths, traditional massages and restoration. All in an architectural and landscaping framework facing the codes of a Japanese aesthetic very precise and lasting for centuries, witness a lifestyle representative of this place dotting up to 17,000 entities, the territory of the sun Levant.
It is this sensory and cultural experience that offers the ryokan reconstituted in the smallest detail, recognizable by its traditional Japanese burned wood facade, not far from the Picasso Museum. A real experience of cultural immersion in an ancient structure and thus be able to appreciate the different facets of a Kyoto traditional Japanese inn was not inspired by the SPA Suisen. An inauguration will take place on April 3rd 2018, from this day time stops in the living room.
This project was born from the desire to share its passion for Japanese culture by a professional SPA world, who has been preparing the deployment of this jewel for 5 years, and his team of Japanese masseurs, all trained at ShiaTsu school. Each element of the place, from the floor to the ceiling, has been studied in respect of the authenticity of the materials imported from Japan and the plans have been prepared by an architect of the country (opposite, representation of Kumikos, woven by hand, photo credits: Alexandre Plateaux).

Thus each piece of decoration deserves the detour, so much can be in the project by far in an atmosphere of deep peace so cherished by the philosophy of “Zen”.

From the sliding partition, fusuma, to the walls coated with precious washi papers, omnipresent in the living room, also the stationery.
All materials including bamboo flooring, woven straw on the ceiling, linen from the Imabari region, the practitioner’s outfits and the customer’s kimono were custom made in organic cotton, the essential oils at first pressure cold, Kunigawa green tea near Mount Fuji.

A true natural philosophy.

The first real ryokan with this concept in France, where the visitor can relax with the help of 4 different types of treatments inspired by shiatsu massage technique and is thus a part between Osaka and Kyoto. The log cushions, the millet garnets (zafu), the log cushions) and even the essential oils and massage!

All fixtures (Japanese cedarwood) and furniture in Japan, especially Asahikawa, as well as bamboo ceiling, kumikos (in introduction, thin cedar cross to represent the Asanoha motif), washi paper in wall covering, Kyoto ceramics, all Made in Japan. The treatment begins with the massage where the visitor is welcomed with the Houjicha and all his inherent gestures, a hot towel Hochibori to warm his hands. Knowing that Suisen meant a flower, involving a renewal with a shiatsu massage to the protocol of the four proposed massages.

Whenever the green and after each massage, the client chooses among 6 organic green, coming from Kakegawa, near Mount Fuji. At the end of the session, the guest can enjoy the ritual of Japanese among the different varieties of the house brand served in a Tokoname teapot or Matcha stirred with a typical Chasen in the box (Natsume) and served by a bamboo scoop (Chasaku), attached with a Japanese macaroon from the handmade porcelain.

A sharing experience, to share …

The culture of ancestral shiatsu massage, once lavished among Japanese families, is proposed to work along the meridians in order to clarify and regulate the body and the mind, adapted to the problems of the contemporary world.
Gift vouchers are offered from Mizuhiki, handmade on the envelope, and an authentic bag of rice to hold the tea.
