Obvious Parfums celebrates Japanese gastronomy with the three fragrances of their new Kakigori collection

This Spring 2025, the Obvious Parfums French perfume house unveils an olfactory trilogy as refined as it is original, directly inspired by different parts from the Japanese culinary art but also from Latin America.
The result is a blend, mixing aesthetic and minimalism, embodied in a sensory innovation and gustatory poetry. In fact, these three new creations, named Plum Cream, Dulce de Leche, and Kakigori White Crush, all reinterpret iconic and international gourmet star ingredients, through surprising and contemporary accords. Obvious Parfums succeeds into turning some innovation within this guiding thread of its new collection. A poetic idea of ephemerality and freshness, elevated through high-quality raw materials. Far from a mere exotic evocation, each of those three fragrances immerses your senses in an evocative and nuanced experience. Thus, these perfumes can be worn alone or layered together, in order to create rich and personalized contrasts. In the meantime, resented in 100 to 120 ml bottles, adorned with a clean design topped by natural cork caps, these perfumes truly reflect Obvious Parfums’ commitment to responsible luxury. Their formulas respect raw materials and favor genuine sustainable sourcing and processes (photo credits: Obvious Parfums).
With this Kakigori collection, Obvious Parfums achieves a delicate balance between real olfactory elegance, gourmet sensations, and respect for artisanal traditions. An invitation to rediscover fragrances as a tasteful, subtle, and deeply emotional art form.
Kakigori White Crush as an icy essence of purity
Directly inspired by the traditional Japanese finely shaved ice dessert, topped with sweet syrups, once enjoyed by Japanese aristocracy better known as kakigori, we obviously start this olfactory tour with the Kakigori White Crush reference. Like a breath of purity, this perfume somehow evokes the immaculate whiteness of imperial snow. Carried by an accord of bright white musks and even captured mountain air, enriched with middle notes of orris and rose, this creation by perfumer Tanguy Guesnet expresses a certain form of scented expressed virginity. The extracted orris, enhanced here, using a natural and eco-friendly process, gives this treasure a powdery and elegant texture, full of finesse.
This fragrant tribute to Japanese culture is ideal on its own for its crystalline freshness, but as well perfect as a good layering basis, since it perfectly blends with more gourmet scents.
Plum Cream for tasting umami in a bottle
We continue this exploration into Japanese gastronomy, revisited by Obvious Parfums, with the Plum Cream item. Therefore, again imagined by nez Tanguy Guesnet, discover a rare perfumery facet and ingredient, currently reinterpreted with the umeboshi plum. Also originally from Japan, this salty and tangy fruit, is normally traditionally consumed after fermentation. For instance, this umami considered fruit is completed in this uncommon fragrance, by expressive head notes of rum and davana, subtly followed by Immortelle flower, oak tree and Saffiano leather, for a delicate composition, full of fruity, leathery, and deeply sensual accents. As far as we know, this seems to be the first creation in the wide niche perfume world, transforming this emblematic fruit into such an intense and unique sensorial experience.
Don’t miss the art of fragrance combinations with the 3 other references! Especially, if you combine it with White Crush, in order to soften its leathery notes and amplify the fruity facets, bringing musky freshness, able to extend the fragrance’s wear on your skin.
Wear Dulce de Leche for caramelized sweetness
This time, we turn into southern latitudes, inspired by a South-American dessert, the dulce de leche, made from sweetened condensed milk. This eponymously baptized fragrance has been generated by nez Meabh Mc Curtin, showcases a creamy blend of top notes of black pepper, nuts, cardamom, sublimed by sesame absolute, plus vanilla, sandalwood and Gaiac wood. The result is a warm and sensual fragrance, both gourmet and sophisticated. Perfect for anyday’s self-expression or special occasions, this Dulce de Leche artwork naturally leaves a subtly sweet and enveloping trail. Moreover, you are invited to combine this dessert with some fresh air sensation, provided by the previously announced Kakigori White Crush, beautifully balancing its gourmet depth, resulting in a creamy and sophisticated scented match.
