Bucherer celebrates the 2019 edition of its own Bucherer Watch Award!
Launched in 2014 by Maison Bucherer France, the Bucherer Watch Award has become a veritable annual rendez-vous in the watchmaking galaxy. This unmissable event is now eagerly awaited by watch brands and watchmaking enthusiasts, in order to highlight some market trends. By Alex Plato
Indeed, the Bucherer Watch Award wanted to be considered as an innovative prize to promote new trends, since many prestigious prizes already exist in this watchmaking field. Thus, most of them give an opportunity to many brands to display their new products and innovations. A certain way to give a regular panorama on the main trends of this very changing market!
This Bucherer Watch Award is an open window to the current watchmaking technics, in order to highlight the brands’ new creations and performances. This project, imagined in 2013, took a year to see the light of day and find its format, validated by the Bucherer group, one of the most important players in watch distribution.
This swiss group, created in 1888, aspires to observe and fulfill the expectations of many customers, often lost in the face of the upsurge of players in the watchmaking industry’s panorama, it reassures them and allows them to create a link with watch brands and get to know them better (photo credits: Alex Plato).
Located close to the Opera Garnier, this Parisian watch store is an institution, founded in 1888, proposing a wide selection of luxury hand watches. Among them, the laureate is a Jaeger-Lecoultre Polaris, a blue diving watch, within a 42 mm steel with rotating inner flange and waterproof 200 meters. This is a limited edition, with blue dial and rubber strap, only produced in 800 copies for a cost of 8,300 euros. This model has just stood out in front of the Classic Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar Manufacture by Frédérique Constant and the Piaget Altiplano, surprisingly both also with blue dials!
To celebrate this award, Bucherer invited many artists to make this party more memorable.. Like a jazz band, the pianist Jan Dark and the hypnotist Jean-Luc Bertrand. Many artists’ performances to admire in this full video above, that we recommend to watch until the end, you would be amazed!
The timepieces are constantly evolving and so are the tastes of customers. With that in mind, the new lucky Bucherer Watch Award 2019 was selected by a jury of watchmaking experts. This panel of watches aims to reveal the customers’ favorites of that year, like every year since 2014.
Indeed, during three weeks, those were called to vote on Internet for which could be their best watch, in an amount of 32 candidates. A figure that increases from each edition to another.
After a period of one month, where those luxury pieces aspiring to this Award were exhibited on the 1st floor of the store, so that the visitors may have a more concrete idea of their choice.
Following a massive online participation and a thoughtful deliberation, the jury designated a successor to the former Bucherer Award laureates. In this list, you would find the “Grande Lange 1 Phases de Lune” by Lange & Söhne awarded in 2014, the “Horological Smartwatch” by Frédérique Constant in 2015, the “Excalibur Squelette Auto-matique” by Roger Dubuis, tied with the “Divers Sixty- Five ”by Oris in 2016 then the“ Neo Bridges ”by Girard-Perregaux in 2017. Thereafter, those enjoyed of a real visibility, as long as the other highlighted models of the vote.
