The French culture could also be exported through the hotel industry, the example of 25Hours in Düsseldorf
The “French culture”, in the broad sense, has multiple ways to export, on channels as diverse as song, literature, gastronomy… But who would have thought that a hotel establishment could also fulfill this mission?
This is notably the case of the very conceptual Germanic chain of 25Hours Hotels, in connection with the post-temporal concept of the 25th hour… An invitation to take your time wherever you are in this society that moves so fast . Moreover, the luminous sign “Do you speak French?” proudly stands at the foot of this brand new 17-storey building, aptly named “Hotel Das Tour” (photo credits: Alexandre Plateaux).
An ode to the Francophonie already strongly anchored in the Rhine city of Düsseldorf, which can be proud of its very popular French Festival (Frankreich Fest), held every early July, featuring (in all its forms) the proximity of the city with Gaul (photo credits: Alexandre Plateaux).
Indeed, this French Festival of Dusseldorf (in French: “The great French holiday”) emanates from the association Destination Düsseldorf Event GmbH which organizes this annual event. This event aims to increase the attractiveness of the city, but above all the cultural, economic and friendly relations with France. Since 2001, the event is held every year, before the French national holiday on July 14th, around the Rheinufer and the Düsseldorf city hall; bringing together more than 100,000 visitors, making it the largest festival of its kind in Germany. The program consists of a market of a hundred stalls including naturally French products, a gastronomic line on the banks of the Rhine with a diversified culinary offer, a vast cultural program including a classic car rally called “Tour de Düsseldorf” . The festival lasts three days and runs from Friday to Sunday (photo credits: nathinduss / christoph.becker / kluthi79).
Thus, his alter ago, the French Summer Festival, held on July 28th, 2018 at the foot of this new 25Hours Hotel establishment, is part of this process of promoting French culture. Highlighting the link that connects this conceptual hotel with the French spirit, through gastronomy with the presence of food trucks but also workshops of all kinds, and a concert of Francophile stars including the German reggae star Patrice and local artist Robin Soho (photo credits: Alexandre Plateaux).
This new hospitality establishment, aimed at promoting French culture from different angles, has just set up on the spot, bringing its share of surprises. “Let’s spend the night together” is literally his rallying motto, very second degree, present on some bedding elements in particular (photo credits: Alexandre Plateaux).
Indeed, we feel this strong tricolor influence through the vintage arrangement, vintage 50s and 60s, dressing a large part of the hotel, sending us back to memories of a time smelling of lavender or a Marcel Pagnol’s classroom (photo credits: Alexandre Plateaux).
Trend that we find through decorating objects in each room including phones, record players, furniture or even a typewriter, designed of that time, leaving obviously an indelible mark from the designers of the hotel, a decoration signed by the SUPERSENSE team (photo credits: Alexandre Plateaux).
In addition, Parisian life and its naughty side also occupy a place of choice in the elements of decoration through wall images, omnipresent in some rooms and public areas of the hotel, evokes somewhat sulphurous, recalling Pigalle or the beginnings of pornography. Themed expensive to the rest of the establishment because you can find in the cocktail menu of the bar on the top floor, called The Paris Club, enjoying a panoramic view of the city, inspired names of cocktails including the ” Ménage à Trois “(photo credits: Alexandre Plateaux).
Another major French reference, the Tour De France, exposed on two large frescoes of outdated cycling duels. A highlight of cycling is the opportunity for customers to borrow bicycles free of charge, during their stay, made by the Berlin manufacturer SCHINDELHAUER, some of which adorn many of their 198 rooms, spread from the 2nd floor to the 15th floor. Each mixes the artistic and warm charm in the French rooms, and simple design and light colors in the German rooms. The two worlds collide in the Melange suites. This skyscraper, located not far from Düsseldorf Main Station (Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof), is full of other surprises as 24 rooms have a bathtub on their balcony (photo credits: Alexandre Plateaux).
This “french connection” is quite real in this hotel, officiating like a French representation in the new modern district Düsseldorf, “The Central District”, on the premises of the former warehouse. The city of Düsseldorf on the Rhine and its proximity to France have inspired the Swedish creative team, led by ERIK NISSEN JOHANSEN, master builder of the Swedish agency, STYLT TRAMPOLI, to embroider a German artistic symbiosis and French in this holistic concept of 25hours Hotel says “Das Tour”. Their creative spirit has pushed this game quite far with the altitude and these first category peaks, so dear to the Tour de France, with the 14th floor spa area inspired by the sport and bike world, including a shower outdoor (photo credits: Alexandre Plateaux).
Highlights include the restaurant and bar: The Paris Club is located on the two upper floors, including a 16th floor restaurant and a 17th floor bar, offering spectacular panoramic views of the city’s rooftops and spectacular views of the city. French-style culinary creations by restaurateurs Rainer Wendt and Joerg Meyer, both from Hamburg. We will also speak of “gastrosophy” rather gastronomy, to characterize the pleasure (“geniessen” in German “) that can be shared around a table, which can be embellished during the morning brunch possibly composed, as you wish, of a glass of crémant, NordSee oysters and many seed breads that gourmets surely appreciate!
Travelers and locals will find a French Café, a Kiosk (boutique hotel) offering books, magazines and a service of fresh flowers and objects found in hotel rooms (soft toys or products of the hotel). the Hamburg cosmetics collection “STOP THE WATER WHILE USING ME!”) and a bike shop on the ground floor (photo credits: Alexandre Plateaux).
In addition, other brands of the same group with each their own identity, will open soon. The 25hours The Circle in Cologne opened on August 1st and the 25hours Terminus Nord will open in end of 2018 in Paris, close to Gare du Nord.
